Gladeview Health Care edged out Common Cents EMS by a score of 2-1 in the Old Saybrook Little League Minors Division Baseball Championship. The game took place on Saturday, June 19th at Town Park in Old Saybrook before an enthusiastic crowd. Base hits and astute baserunning by Brendan Montano, James Vukovinsky and Haydon Lockhart made the difference in a tight pitchers' duel. Austin Hilger and Paddy Ryan provided strong pitching to support the Common Cents defense.
Paddy Ryan and Timmy Reid came through with timely hits to engage the Common Cents offense. Gladeview players Galvin Stuart, Katie Henderson and Gabe Kaar turned in fine fielding plays to limit the opposing runners. Vukovinsky started strong on the mound for Gladeview with Haydon Lockhart coming on in relief, striking out the side in the sixth inning to seal the victory.
The Old Saybrook Little League commends all the teams and players for their fair play and dedication throughout the 2010 season.
